CURRENTLY SEEKING:

Plays by American Women for "American Women" — a series of new plays by female playwrights about America.

WHTC's New Play Development Series is currently seeking submissions from female playwrights writing about the American experience. Women need not be at the center of these works, but they must be written by female playwrights and deal directly with concepts that are considered uniquely American in their themes, values or ideas. Plays will be considered for a possible reading and could also be considered for further development. The White Horse Theater Company will accept one entry per playwright and does not accept musicals.

While the company still maintains its open submission policy, please note that other types of submissions will not be considered for development at this time.

For further information, please contact Vanessa Bombardieri, Director of New Play Development at vanessa@whitehorsetheater.com

The New Play Development Series seeks to enhance the visions of emerging American playwrights through a series of staged readings, labs and workshops designed to help the process of bringing the new play from the page to the stage.

    BLOOD WATER
a new play by Joe Musso

A local preacher prophesies the coming of Hurricane Katrina to New Orleans as a punishment for the city's sins. A local stripper, the main target of the Prophet's wrath, begs her husband Rod (a fencer of stolen goods) to avenge her. When Rod dismisses her plea, Greta (with the aid of Rod's lackey) captures the Prophet herself right before the storm hits the city. Surrounded by blood, water and devastation, another storm brews inside as the Prophet becomes a pawn in a deadly power game of right and wrong-good vs. evil.
